How to Spa

As Austin's premier salon and spa, NAAVA Salon and Spa knows a thing or two about the ultimate spa experience. To get the most of your trip to the day spa there are a few things you should know before you go. So whether you are new to spas or a seasoned pro, here are a few tips to keep in mind to make sure your spa experience is nothing short of blissful.

1. Make An Appointment

Appointment times and availability vary depending on the date, season, and which service you wish to have. Most spas require making an appointment in advance, however many also accept walk-ins. Save time by calling the spa ahead of time and confirming whether they accept walk-ins or have a strict appointment only policy.

2. Check the Cancellation Policy

If you have to cancel your trip to the spa, be sure to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance and never pull a "no show" (that's just rude). Besides, many spas will charge you the full cost of services if you don't show so just do your part and properly cancel your appointment. Every day spa has it's own cancellation policy so be sure to check with your spa to avoid any unwanted charges or fees.

3. Tip Accordingly

Why tip? Providing a spa service for you is not just a passion for these caring professionals, but a career choice from which they earn a living. If you’ve enjoyed a great spa experience, then tip your therapist 15–20 percent of the cost of your service.

4. Don't Be Late

We suggest arriving 15-30 minutes before your appointment to allow for check-in and some proper relaxation before your day spa services. If you're new to a spa you'll be asked to complete an information sheet and provide a brief medical history.

5. What to Wear

Upon arrival to the day spa, you will receive a robe, sandals, and a locker for your comfort during your visit.
Here are a few dress tips according to service:
  • Facial – You may leave on your undergarments except for a bra. Why? Your chest area may receive some attention—that’s also part of a facial.
  • Massage – Wear your spa robe to the room, but feel free to be naked underneath. Your entire body will receive attention. Shy? Leave on your underwear.
  • Body Treatment – Bare all unless provided disposable panties. Why? Your skin will get moist.
  • Waxing – Disposable panties may be provided, or leave your undies on unless you’re having a Brazilian.
  • Spray Tan – Wear disposable panties or nothing at all for no tan lines! And the tanning solution can stain undergarments. Afterward, leave your underwear off and wear dark, loose sweatpants and flip-flops.

Bonus Tip:

Turn off your cell phones to maintain the peaceful ambiance.
